My love for the outdoors and my training in Eco Therapy taught me the benefits of combining talking therapy with being out and about in the fresh air. Being in nature is beneficial for physical and mental health and particularly helpful when suffering from low mood or anxiety. Walking in St Andrews Park or on the Downs is less formal than meeting in a counselling room and therefore potentially less daunting.
Exploring the paths and observing the natural surrounding can help to gain insights and solutions to life’s challenges. Moving along a path or through an open field is a beautiful metaphor for walking through life with all its changes and might be just the right process to become unstuck. At the same time it is the perfect place to practice mindfulness.
I still offer for this service a free 25-minute initial session. However this will be either in my practice room or on Skype, so that we will recognise each other when out in the park.
