What I Offer:
I am qualified as a person-centred integrative counsellor. This means that I will be listening to you in a warm, empathic, non-judgemental way, where you can feel safe to explore your innermost feelings and thoughts in a confidential way. Whatever your issue, you set the pace and depth that is most helpful in your process of growing awareness.
It might be that you have a very specific problem that you want to explore, to understand and therefore to be able to let go. Or you want to go deeper in your understanding of yourself, of your behavioural or emotional patterns that keep you stuck. My aim is to help you make the changes you want to see and to come to a point of self-love and self-acceptance.
There is now a vast array of models and techniques available that are suitable for long-term or short-term therapy. Due to my (ongoing) training I am familiar with person-centred counselling, Transaction Analysis, Gestalt Therapy, Psychosynthesis, Positive Psychology, Solution Focused Therapy, CBT, family constellation and working with breath and body. All of these theories hold in themselves valuable tools that help to overcome hurdles in life and to achieve a more positive, resilient perspective. I tend to use them in an intuitive way, suggesting the one or the other technique when they might be appropriate and helpful. To help you to calm your mind and to connect with your inner world I use Mindfulness, Focusing and Energy Work.
In a nutshell, I am here to help you with all three aspects of the Serenity Prayer:
God/Source/Higher Self, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
To make sure that I work safely and ethically, I have regular supervision and follow the BACP code of ethics. I am a member of BACP and underwent their assessment for proficiency.
